Party Dinners Snacks/Breakfast

Bokhobokho

Ingredients-

1 & 1/2 cup whole wheat

1/4 cup rice

Soak the above overnight.

Next day boil the above in 4 cups of water till soft. Using a hand blender half crush the wheat and rice.

In another pot boil about 1 pound meat (can be bone or boneless) and 1 teaspoon salt. Cook till tender..

Whole spices-

4 pieces cinnamon sticks

5 cardamoms (since my family does not like chewing on the whole cardamoms so I use about 2 teaspoon fresh cardamom powder).

3 cloves

1 teaspoon whole black pepper

1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder

1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder

Method-

Put the whole and powdered spices into the wheat-rice mixture and add the meat into it.

Add 1 cup water to the mixture and keep on low flame so that the spices infuse well. Keep stirring every 10 minutes to avoid it sticking at the bottom of the pot. Keep cooking for about 2 hours and add water if needed.

This dish is best served the next day for breakfast.

Next day, add about 2 tablespoons butter and 3/4  cup sugar, give it a good stir. Heat it well and serve.

Narrated Al-Bara’:

I heard the Prophet (p.b.u.h) delivering a Khutba saying, “The first thing to be done on this day (first day of `Id ul Adha) is to pray; and after returning from the prayer we slaughter our sacrifices (in the name of Allah) and whoever does so, he acted according to our Sunna (traditions).”
